The Process Engineering Co-op position at Independent Can Company (ICC) has been created to provide an opportunity for students to gain real world experience in a manufacturing company. The candidate will work in the Engineering department and will report directly to the Engineering Director.
In this position you will gain exposure and learn about many aspects of manufacturing. A brief description of the planned duties and educational opportunities is below.
First Session: learn and support engineering file database system, update 2d drawings, use packaging software to calculation optimal trailer/container loads, assist in process improvement projects, assist with Vision inspection, assist with automation projects, access database management/development
Second Session: begin 3D modeling tasks, plant layout assignments, large capital project management support, vision inspection
Third Session: large capital project management, lead process improvement projects, serve as backup to staff engineers
ICC is pleased to participate in this program as it will help the candidate in their continued studies of engineering and prepare them for a career in manufacturing. Additionally, ICC will benefit by having the candidate assist the department in meeting customer and company needs.
An internship is a short-term professional experience related to a student’s major and/or career goals. Through internships, students explore career options, test their choice of academic major and develop professional skills and experience. Students may participate in internships for academic credit (juniors/seniors/grad students) or for experience only.
Independent Can offers paid internships in many areas of the company depending on the time of year and the needs in each department. Our interns learn more than just individual skills. Interns get the opportunity for working collaboratively in a business environment and connecting what has been learned in the classroom.
